FORESTS

Through pioneering work in forest economics over many decades, Resources for the Future scholars have made influential contributions to U.S. public lands policy, timber supply and trade, and to the management approaches of the U.S. National Forest Service. Current forestry research examines global timber markets, the potential for using forests for biofuels production, and biotechnology and trees.  RFF researchers are now examining polices for promoting the capture of carbon emissions through afforestation as well as market-based and other policy approaches to preventing carbon emissions from deforestation and degradation in tropical forests.
