Biography

Juha Siikamäki's research focuses on valuing the environment and evaluating the benefits, costs, and cost-effectiveness of different environmental policy options. He is especially interested in understanding the preferences of consumers, households, and landowners for different policy programs and using this information for evaluating and designing environmental policy. Recently, he has scrutinized conservation policy alternatives for Finland; reviewed the status of biodiversity and its conservation in the U.S.; and examined the cost-effectiveness of alternative approaches to the protection of Pacific Salmon. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of California at Davis, and a M.S. from the University of Helsinki. His research is published or accepted for publication in journals such as Land Economics and Journal of Environmental Economics and Management.
