It was with great sadness that we at RFF learned of the passing of Henry Diamond, who died this Sunday after a long illness. In addition to being a giant of the conservation movement, Mr. Diamond was a long-time friend to RFF, serving for a time on our Board of Directors and most recently as co-organizer, with Pat Noonan, Chair Emeritus of the Conservation Fund, of the bipartisan Outdoor Resources Review Group, which relied on RFF for the empirical research that informed its recommendations. The group’s report, Great Outdoors America, laid the groundwork for President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors Initiative. I was fortunate enough to work closely with Henry as part of that effort. I came to greatly admire his dedication to the outdoors and his hard work to find common ground across party lines in support of the government's role in conservation and outdoor recreation. We send our condolences to his family and many friends.
