News and Highlights:

The FSRC has recently completed four sector-specific workshops for the Food Safety Information Infrastructure Project: Phase 1. For more information on these workshops, including summaries of key ideas, copies of handouts, and presentation materials, see the project's Events and Meetings page. A final conference for the project is currently being planned for Fall 2007.

On June 4-6, 2007, the FSRC participated in the JIFSAN Workshop "Tools for Prioritizing Food Safety Concerns."

The article "Using Expert Elicitation To Link Foodborne Illnesses in the United States to Foods" by Sandra Hoffmann, Alan Krupnick, and others was published in the May 2007 issue of the Journal of Food Protection.

Helen Jensen and Julie Caswell co-edited the Spring 2007 issue of Agribusiness, dedicated to "Economic measures of food safety interventions" and following from two workshops in the FSRC project on Prioritizing Opportunities to Reduce Risk.

On April 5 and 30, 2007, FSRC researchers from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and Resources for the Future presented and participated in public meetings held by USDA FSIS on risk-based inspection.
