Under the Program for Pollution Control, Evaluation and Rating (PROPER), the environmental performance of companies is graded and publicly disclosed. In this book the authors provide a multidisciplinary analysis of how the PROPER program launched in Indonesia harnessed the power of public disclosure to abate the problem of industrial pollution while enhancing public awareness, especially in a developing country setting.
