Since 1952, RFF scholars have addressed critical issues in environmental and natural resource public policy. Coming from fields such as economics, law, and public policy, they provide policymakers, journalists, academics, businesspeople, and the environmental advocacy community with independent, innovative solutions to pressing environmental questions.

RFF's core knowledge is broadly defined in "Knowledge Areas" (displayed in the menu on your left). This same research expertise also is grouped into "Research Topics" displayed in the "Quick Links" on the top of the page). The interrelatedness of these categories is illustrated in the interactive Knowledge Areas and Research Topics page.

The RFF research staff is composed of senior fellows, fellows, resident scholars, research assistants, and associates, as well as a host of visiting scholars and fellows from academia and the policy community. RFF scholars publish their research finding in peer-reviewed journals and several RFF publications including Discussion Papers, RFF Reports, Issue Briefs, Resources magazine, and RFF Press Books. They also share their findings through seminars and conferences, as well as by giving Congressional Testimony and acting as sources for journalists around the world.
