Biography
Safirova is a fellow at RFF. In her current research, she focuses on economic modeling and policy analysis related to transportation and urban land use. In particular, Safirova is analyzing transportation policy alternatives with respect to outcomes for transportation demand, location decisions, urban sprawl, interaction with other policies, as well as the effects on economic welfare and environmental quality.

She also is interested in the impacts of technological change on urban spatial structure, labor markets, industrial organization, and the environment. In her Ph.D. dissertation, Safirova incorporated telecommuting in urban economic models and examined the effects of this work arrangement on spatial structure and economic welfare of city residents.
