Countries around the globe have made strides in recent years by announcing net-zero targets and passing ambitious climate policy. However, ambitious climate policies to achieve net-zero emissions are at risk if international trade leads to leakage—when the source of emissions shifts to jurisdictions with less ambitious policies in place.

Join Resources for the Future (RFF) at COP 27 on Friday, November 11, for an RFF Live event focused on the issues of competitiveness and emissions leakage associated with the decarbonization of global industry. Our expert panel will provide perspectives from the European Union, the United States, and Japan; and, will draw attention to proposed policies imposing tariffs on the carbon content of traded goods, and provide opportunities for the development of climate clubs by countries with high climate ambition.
