Resilient Energy Economies | How Can Communities Better Prepare for Fossil Power Plant Closure?
Join RFF’s Resilient Energy Economies initiative on Tuesday, August 4 to learn how communities across the country can better prepare for fossil fuel-fired power plant closures.
Event Details
Fossil fuel-fired power plants are economic drivers for many communities across the United States. When these plants retire, communities are often left with difficult questions about how to support affected workers and make up for lost government revenue. Join three researchers who’ve studied the closure of both coal- and natural gas-fired power plants across the United States to hear insights from their work. Presenters will discuss when to expect coal power plants to close, how communities and workers want to be engaged in planning for closures, and how state governments can support impacted localities.
