"Along the same lines, the authors highlight continuing challenges that may warrant action. Among them are emissions of ammonia, stemming mainly from cars and agriculture, which 'have generally not decreased and in many areas have increased.' And despite the reduction in rain-related acidification, the long-term damage to forests may take decades to reverse. The authors include researchers from the University of Virginia, the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in upstate New York, and Resources for the Future, a Washington, D.C., think tank."
