“Researchers have found that the year after a big disaster, homeowners typically see an uptick in nonrenewals but that the loss in coverage doesn’t always last, said Margaret Walls, an economist and senior fellow at Resources for the Future, a research nonprofit focused on climate and energy. 

‘As long as the market functions properly, somebody will write a policy for those people,’ Walls said. ‘But that doesn’t mean it’ll be at the same price. It doesn’t mean they won’t struggle to find somebody to cover them.’”
