High voltage transmission lines that cross state lines and deliver energy between regions can help increase utilization of variable resources, improve reliability, and reduce electricity prices. Despite these benefits, interregional long distance transmission lines face many obstacles, including finding agreement among states, addressing opposition from motivated stakeholders, and siting lines across multiple jurisdictions.

Resources for the Future (RFF) is hosting a series of webinars to discuss the critical need to build more energy infrastructure more quickly, policy efforts to facilitate this need, and the many remaining obstacles to growing energy infrastructure. Join RFF on Thursday, July 24 for the session focused on long distance transmission.
