"Alan Krupnick, a senior fellow at Resources for the Future, added that ignoring climate change could undermine American competitiveness in global energy markets. Many companies are already using 'shadow prices of carbon,' internal prices that help them gauge costs of future climate regulation and plan for the long term, he told the panel. 'As the U.S. continues to roll back climate regulations, such as its methane rules, our neighbors may grow concerned about competitiveness issues,' Krupnick said. 'Mexico and Canada may increasingly become hesitant to align our environmental policies in the future.'"
