A widely syndicated op-ed read by people across the American West mentions RFF research on the effects of lower royalty rates for oil and gas produced on federal lands.
“The House bill would also slash the royalty rate for oil and gas production from 16.67 percent to 12.5 percent, depriving state and local governments of funding they depend on for schools, roads, and other essential services. An analysis by Resources for the Future found that the proposed lower royalty rates would result in a loss of nearly $5 billion in revenue over the next decade.”
