Resources for the Future Announces Restructured Leadership Team
Billy Pizer, president and CEO of Resources for the Future (RFF), is pleased to announce a restructured and streamlined executive team to lead the organization’s mission and staff.
Tommy Wrenn, who has been with RFF since 2020 and served as chief of staff for the past three years, will be stepping into the role of Vice President for People and Operations. In this position, he will oversee human resources, information technology, and operational functions at RFF while continuing to lead institutional management and strategy within the president’s office. Wrenn also serves as corporate secretary to RFF’s board of directors.
Kristina Gawrgy, who joined RFF in July 2023 as the Vice President for Communications, is expanding her role as the Vice President for External Affairs. She will now lead both the communications team and the development team, spearheading RFF’s fundraising, partnerships, government affairs, and communications strategies.
The RFF executive team consists of Pizer, Wrenn, and Gawrgy, as well as Carlos Martín, RFF’s Vice President for Research and Policy Engagement. Martín’s role will not change with this reorganization.
“Following the recent departure of two executive team members, I took the chance to step back and assess our processes and priorities,” Pizer said. “In particular, I considered how we might make our executive decisionmaking more agile and flexible in a changing landscape. I’m pleased with where we’ve landed and that Kristina and Tommy are gracefully stepping into these expanded roles.”
“In a way, this restructuring reflects our decisionmaking at RFF more generally,” Pizer continued. “At an organization as established as RFF, it’s important to explore innovative ways to deepen our impact through effective, impartial analysis to inform climate, energy, and environmental policies. The executive team and I are united in this mindset and look forward to furthering our mission in the years ahead.”
