Green Accounting
It is widely accepted that traditional economic measures such as gross domestic product (GDP) do not account for the value of many of nature’s products and services, despite their role in the broader economy. Experts at RFF have advocated for the development of a “green GDP” to address this gap. One key research question is how to define the economically appropriate ecological units of account.
