Resilient Energy Economies | The Fossil Fuel Workforce in a Changing Energy System
Zoom Link to Join WebinarEvent Description
The coal, oil, and natural gas industries are major employers in fossil fuel-producing communities across the country, often offering high-paying jobs with strong benefits. When fossil production declines or facilities close, workers can face serious economic shocks and may struggle to find new job opportunities. This webinar will feature three Resilient Energy Economies (REE) initiative researchers who are experts on energy worker transitions. They will discuss their work analyzing how declines in coal mining have affected workers; how organized labor is supporting dislocated power plant workers in Tennessee; and how companies react to shocks and handle worker transitions.
